Gambling Bill Published Today

So the UK Gambling Bill finally got published today after years of drafts and months of speculation and as expected there's been a barrage of opinion and anger - no less from the Daily Mail's laughable 'kill the casino bill' reaction.

Gambling law in the UK dates back nearly 40 years and whilst some of the new bill may not please some parties, the update was a necessity, as Tessa Jowell states:

".. it's not just attitudes that have changed since then. The technological revolution has touched all our lives and the gambling industry is no exception."

The Internet and technology aspect of the bill touches on age verification and player limits, whilst overall the most controversial issues include new slot machine categorisation that allows for huge jackpots in 'vegas-style' casinos only

Thousands of lines of editorial will no doubt be written over the next few months on the dangers of the new bill.

I'm snoozing just thinking about it.

Much ado about nothing.

Pro gamblers are happy.
Anti gamblers are sad.
More revenue for the govt is always the end result.
Little opposition from the conservatives.
No opposotion from me.
